Ingressi Milanesi, designing the inbetween, Lisa Desager & Lisa Janssens

The book presents a graphical and photographic analysis of twenty entrance halls of Milanese condomini, appartement buildings, located in the Magenta and Sempione district, built between 1920 and 1970. A carefully chosen graphic expression helps to discover underlying similarities. The book concludes by bringing together elements of various uses in order to point to recurring elements and ultimately to design principles.

This publication is based the master thesis of Lisa Desager and Lisa Janssens at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Ghent University, supervised by prof. Dirk De Meyer

“Lisa Desager & Lisa Janssens’ precious work fills a lacuna given the scarcity in studies of this topic (for which only recently a certain interest has occurred), even more so because of the scientific approach in studying the articulation of spaces and their ‘modelling’. It is surely one of the first and the most in-depth analysis from the point of view of the study of architecture.” (Francesca Picchi)
